Poetry Pharmacy

Welcome to the world’s first walk-in Poetry Pharmacy. Visit our beautiful Victorian bookshop in this pretty town and browse the shelves according to your mood- from 'Matters of the Heart' to 'For days when the world is too much with us' and find books, art and gifts as well as beautiful stationery and artefacts chosen to address a particular emotional ailment. You will also be able to speak to the Poetry Pharmacist who might prescribe some poetic medicine for a complicated mix of emotions…or if it’s more serious, be asked to lie down on the consulting couch and have a full length consultation with poems hand-picked.This is also a new centre in the Midlands for poetry and creative writing; we will host regular reading and writing workshops in The Distillery space upstairs as well as bookbinding and printing workshops, book launches and open mics, with an emphasis on good mental health and well-being. We host a monthly Queer Reading Group, as well as other workshops around literature and wellbeing. There is a free to use Writing Hut in our Poetry Physic garden. See website for more details.
