Women & Theatre

Women & Theatre is an award-winning Birmingham based theatre company and charity. We make deep work about things that matter, reflecting the language and lives of ordinary people. Working across the arts, health, education and community sectors, we have been pioneering new ways of addressing contemporary issues through performance since 1983.

Women & Theatre's Community Performance Club
has been running since Jan 2020. We run a series of free, friendly and accessible courses for older adults and carers with opportunities to perform.

The club provides uplifting activities that encourage older adults and carers to be active, sociable, learn new skills and collaborate to create work that brings people together and strengthens community connections. The courses promote wellbeing and reduce isolation of older adults, carers and wider community members. We particularly target those at risk of social isolation or decline due to low physical activity levels or other health factors. We work with social workers and other professionals to refer participants to the course and also welcome self referrals. Currently delivering in Druids Heath and surrounding areas.
